Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig Prediction: Bundesliga Match on 03.03.2023

It will be second versus Fourth when Borussia Dortmund host RB Leipzig on Friday at the Signal Iduna Park for a Bundesliga clash starting at 19:30 GMT.

Dortmund will be looking to extend their winning run and maintain their position at joint-top of the table, whereas RB Leipzig will be looking to bolster their title charge with a win.

Key Highlights

Borussia’s Winning Run

Dortmund have won the last five assignments in the Bundesliga; they have shown brilliant form in the post-World Cup period as they have reeled in Bayern Munich at the top of the table to tie them at 46 points on the table currently.

Edin Terzić and his men will look to keep this form going when they meet RB Leipzig on Friday. The focus will be on maintaining the right balance between their attacking fluidity and defensive solidity.

Dortmund’s high-pressure approach to the match is crucial to dominating the ball, winning it back when they lose and launching transition attacks that optimize the frequency and quality of chances they create in the final third.

RB Leipzig’s Inconsistency

Marco Rose and his charges have won three, drawn one, and lost one in their last five Bundesliga outings. Their inconsistency in the league has seen them lose ground in the title charge.

The Red Bull Arena side are currently 4th on the table with 42 points, four behind the tied league leaders Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

They will be looking to cut Dortmund’s lead to just one with a win on Friday.

Injury Report

Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will go into the clash with RB Leipzig on Frieda without the services of center-forward Youssoufa Muokoko; the 18-year-old has been sidelined with a ruptured syndesmotic ligament since February 12, 2023.

Karim Adeyemi is also out of the match with a torn muscle fiber. The 21-year-old left winger has been out of action since February 20, 2023. No return date has been set yet for the wide forward.

Dortmund are also without right-back Julian Ryerson who is nursing an eye injury, whereas right-winger Julien Duranville is sidelined with a muscle partial avulsion.

RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is unavailable for selection. The 32-year-old is recovering from a cruciate ligament rupture since October 6, 2022.

Center-back Abdou Diallo is also absent for RB Leipzig in the clash with Dortmund on Friday. The 26-year-old has been nursing knee problems since January 23, 2023.

Leipzig are also missing the services of attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, who has been sidelined with a torn muscle fiber since January 28, 2023.

Possible Lineups

Borussia Dortmund

G. Kobel; R. Guerreiro, N. Schlotterbeck, N. Sule, M. Wolf; J. Bellingham, E. Can, M. Reus; J. Bynow-Gittens, S. Haller, J. Brandt

RB Leipzig

Prediction

Borussia Dortmund will be looking to ride on the confidence of their winning run to win the clash with RB Leipzig on Friday.

The Signal Iduna Park side will seek to dominate the ball and the midfield area; this will allow them to set the tempo of the match and pick out probing passes into the attacking players to break down RB Leipzig’s defensive setup.

RB Leipzig will counter Borussia’s attempt at domination by pressing fiercely throughout the ball. They will push up, squeeze the space, and defend on the front foot. They will leverage quick transitions and passing to create chances in the Dortmund defense.

Borussia will have the home advantage, and they will win this match to keep their winning run going and at least finish the weekend level on points with Bayern Munich at the top of the table.
