Borussia Dortmund vs Monchengladbach Prediction: Bundesliga Match Match on 13.05.2023

The Bundesliga is finely poised with three matches to go. Second-placed Borussia Dortmund will go one-on-one with Monchengladbach on Saturday for a Bundesliga clash with title ramifications for the home side, with kickoff slated for 16:30 GMT.

A point behind Bayern Munich in the title chase, Dortmund have to keep winning to retain their hopes of lifting the Bundesliga and apply pressure on their title rivals heading into the final two matches.

Monchengladbach have little to fight for at this stage of the season; they are safe from relegation and currently sit 10th on the table. They can only improve their position and jump into the top half of the table if they keep winning.

Key Highlights

Borussia Dortmund’s Nail-Biting Title Fight

The league title in the Bundesliga is heading for a nail-biting and exciting completion. Borussia Dortmund are one of two teams fighting it out in the final three matches, separated by just a point.

Dortmund have to win their last three matches and hope Bayern Munich will slip up and give them an opening to pip them to the title.

The Signal Iduna Park will be a sea of emotion on Saturday as they host Monchengladbach, with three points a must to keep the title hopes alive into the final two matches.

Dortmund are unbeaten in their last five matches; they have won three times and drawn twice. This run has seen them top the Bundesliga and cede control back to Bayern Munich in an exciting run-in filled with unpredictability by both title-chasing sides.

The focus on Saturday will be to get the three points they need to keep their title alive, and with it, a chance to take advantage of any slip-ups by the league leaders.

Monchengladbach Playing for Pride and Position

Monchengladbach, with 39 points, are safe from relegation with three matches remaining in the Bundesliga season. They sit 10th on the table with little to play for except pride and the possibility of climbing up the table.

Daniel Farke and his men are in inconsistent form. They have won just two matches in their last five outings in the Bundesliga. They have also lost two matches and drawn once. They will be looking to make it two wins on the bounce after beating VfL Bochum last Saturday.

The trip to title-chasing Dortmund on Saturday will be intriguing for Daniel Farke and his men. They do not have much riding on the match; however, they will not want to be just a step in Dortmund’s fight for the title. Farke will have them ready to spoil the party mood at the Signal Iduna with a shock result.

Injury Report

Borussia Dortmund

Right-backs Mateu Morey Bauza (fitness) and Thomas Meunier (muscle injury) will miss the clash against Monchengladbach.

Dortmund will also be without left winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (unknown injury) and right winger Julien Duranville (partial muscle avulsion).

Monchengladbach

Daniel Farke will be without center-forward Marcus Thuram. The 25-year-old forward is sidelined with a torn muscle fiber. He has been out since April 24, 2023, and has missed two matches.

Possible Lineups

Borussia Dortmund

G. Kobel; M. Wolf, N. Sule, M. Hummels, J. Ryerson; J. Bellingham, E. Can, J. Brandt; D. Malen, S. Haller, K. Adeyemi

Monchengladbach

J. Omlin; S. Lainer, M. Friedrich, N. Elvedi, R. Bensebaini; J. Weigl, M. Kone; F. Neuhaus, J. Hofmann, N. Ngoumou; A. Plea

Prediction

Borussia Dortmund will start the match on the front foot. They will press throughout the pitch, force Monchengladbach back into their half, and use their passing to create chances.

Monchengladbach will be compact and narrow in their approach. They will close all the spaces and passing channels, making it difficult for Dortmund to play.

Dortmund will win the match and retain their title hopes going into the final two matches.
