Matchday three in the Bundesliga gets underway on Friday, as Borussia Dortmund bid to maintain their unbeaten start to the new season against Heidenheim. The visitors are still chasing a first win since returning to the top flight, but this appears a tricky game for the away side.
Borussia Dortmund will be appeased with their start to the new season, but there will be pressure on the German side to bounce back after being held to a draw on matchday two. However, they remain in the top six in the early standings, and they are just two points off the top of the standings.
Dortmund failed to land a second straight win in the league on Saturday, as they played out a 1-1 draw on the road against Bochum. Their equalising goal in that match was netted with just over half an hour remaining by Donyell Malen. Dortmund appeared short of ideas in the final third in that match, as they managed just three shots on target despite dominating the possession against their rivals.
Bet hereHeidenheim will be the second visitors to Dortmund this season, as the newly-promoted side will be looking to record a first league win of the season. However, this is one of the most challenging fixtures on the Bundesliga schedule, and a victory for the team on the road would be among the biggest shocks of the season so far.
Heidenheim’s winless start to the new season continued last weekend, as they suffered a second straight defeat against Hoffenheim. The defeat means that the newly promoted side have now allowed five goals across their two opening matches, and they have scored just two goals. Both of their goals were netted in the 3-2 defeat against Hoffenheim on Saturday.
This will only be the second clash between these sides since 2000. Dortmund were winners of the previous clash between the teams, as they landed a 4-3 win in a friendly match in July 2014.
It hasn’t been the perfect start to the new season for Dortmund, but there will be an expectation that they will have too much for their newly promoted visitors this weekend. Therefore, we will be siding with a victory for the home side in their final match before the international break.
