Crystal Palace will be chasing a second straight home win in the Premier League this weekend when they host Luton Town. The visitors will also have a desperate desire to pick up maximum points after suffering defeats in each of their last four fixtures in the league.
Oliver Glasner has enjoyed a solid enough start to life at Selhurst Park since replacing Roy Hodgson. The German oversaw a first Premier League win in the club’s last home match, before they more than played their part in an entertaining fixture away from home against Tottenham in their previous outing.
However, their defeat against Tottenham means that there is extra significance on this fixture. Palace remain just eight points above the drop zone in the Premier League, while they could drop to 16th if results go against them this weekend. But, a win for the Eagles could be huge for their chances of survival, as they could end the weekend in 13th.
Bet hereThe pressure is beginning to increase on Luton, as the Hatters have failed to make ground on the sides located above them in the league standings. They come into this fixture sitting 18th, and they are four points adrift from safety. But, this should be a slightly easier fixture after coming up against many of the top teams in recent weeks.
But, the Hatters will need to improve defensively after allowing the third-most goals in the Premier League so far this season. Their most recent defeat was suffered in dramatic circumstances against Aston Villa. Luton did well to drag themselves level in that recent fixture at Kenilworth Road, but Villa snatched maximum points after scoring the winner in the 89th minute.
Luton will take confidence into this fixture after registering a 2-1 win in the reverse clash between the sides this term. That was their fourth win in five league matches against the Eagles, with Palace’s only win since 2000 coming in the second tier in February 2007.
Luton have a very solid record in this fixture, but they will need to make a quicker start than they did in their previous fixture against Villa. Due to their excellent head-to-head record, a chance is taken on the away side landing victory on Saturday.
