However, their job isn’t yet complete, as they must land maximum points in their final fixture in the group to ensure that they finish above Wales.
A success at home against Armenia could also see Croatia finish top of the standings. Croatia would have taken confidence from the fact that they bounce back to winning ways in their most recent international, which ended a two-game losing run. Their most recent success was a very professional display on the road against Latvia, as they landed a 2-0 success. Lovro Majer and Andrej Kramaric scored the goals in the victory on the road.
Armenia have already been eliminated from contention in the race to finish in the top two spots in Group D. However, a victory on the road could see them finish as high as third in the overall standings. They should come into this fixture in decent form, as they have lost just twice over their previous five.
Armenia actually did Croatia a favour in their most recent match, as they played out a 1-1 home draw against Wales. They took the lead in that fixture through Lucas Zalarayan, before the Welsh levelled the scores on the stroke of half time. However, they will be massive outsiders for victory on Tuesday.
Croatia are unbeaten in two previous encounters against Armenia. The latest of those came in September, as they recorded a professional 1-0 success on the road against their rivals. Meanwhile, the other clash between the nations ended in a 1-1 draw in June 2021.
