It has been a miserable season to this point for Chelsea, as they sit tenth in the Premier League standings. The Blues could yet end the campaign in the bottom half of the standings, but they will also be wary of getting dragged into a potential relegation scrap, as they sit just six clear of the bottom three. Chelsea has won just once in their previous six Premier League matches, while they have picked up back-to-back defeats coming into this weekend.
The Blues were disappointing once again in their previous fixture, as they lost 2-0 on the road against Tottenham Hotspur. That defeat effectively ended any hope that they may have had of making a late charge toward the top four, as they now sit 14 points off Spurs in fourth.
Javi Gracia’s reign at Elland Road couldn’t have got off to a better start in his first match in charge, as Leeds picked up a much-needed victory against Southampton. That was their first win in their previous six matches, and was also just their fifth success of the campaign. However, their survival is still far from assured, as they sit just a point above the bottom three.
Leeds always appeared to be the most likely winners in that fixture against the Saints, as they created more opportunities and boasted the greater possession. However, they didn’t break the deadlock until the final 13 minutes when Junior Firpo netted the winner. They will need more from their attacking players this weekend.
Chelsea vs Leeds Head to Head
Since Leeds returned to the Premier League, they have taken just four points from five clashes against Chelsea. Their only win was recorded earlier this season, as they landed a 3-0 success at Elland Road. However, they have conceded three in each of their previous two visits to Stamford Bridge.
