Celta Vigo and Valladolid both find themselves toward the bottom of the La Liga standings coming into this round of fixtures in Spain. Both sides are locked on 24 points, and currently sit just two points above the relegation places. A victory for either could be huge for their survival chances this term.
Celta Vigo comes into this crucial game in La Liga sitting just above Valladolid in the current standings. However, there is little between the two sides, as just goal differences separate the sides coming into the fixtures this weekend. Celta has gone two without a win in Spain ahead of this fixture, while they have picked up two victories in their last four. However, they will need a return to winning ways to ease their position in the relegation scrap.
Celta at least avoided a second straight defeat in their previous match, as they battled back to snatch a draw against Real Sociedad. Their equalising goal was scored in the 93rd minute, despite the visitors being down to ten men following the dismissal of Renato Tapia with 15 minutes remaining.
Valladolid currently sits 15th in the standings, but they are certainly in the middle of the battle to avoid relegation. They come into this fixture without a win in two previous outings, but like Celta, they have won twice in their previous four matches. However, Valladolid comes into this game after a defeat in their latest fixture.
That loss was suffered away from home against Real Betis last Saturday, as they conceded twice in the opening 45 minutes. Cyle Larin once again netted for Valladolid in the defeat, but his effort counted for very little in the great scheme of things.
Valladolid is unbeaten in their previous seven La Liga matches against Celta Vigo. Earlier in the season, they recorded a 4-1 win in the reverse fixture. However, four of the previous five matches between the sides have ended in draws, including each of the previous three played in Vigo.
The stakes will be high for both of these sides ahead of the fixture on Sunday. The trend of draws when these two sides meet makes for a compelling betting angle, and we could see both sides being appeased with a point apiece this weekend.
