A new era at Real Madrid has got off to a smooth start in 2023-24, and they will be looking to maintain their perfect record when they play their third straight game on the road on Friday against Celta Vigo.
Real Madrid have encountered few issues this term without Karim Benzema based on their efforts across the opening three matchdays this season. Las Blancos currently sit at the top of the La Liga standings after winning each of their opening two matches. Across those matches, they have scored five goals and have allowed just one.
Real’s dominant start to the new season continued on Saturday, as they landed a comfortable 3-1 success over Almeria on the road. Jude Bellingham was once again the star of the show, as the England international scored twice to take his tally for the new season to three goals in two appearances. Vinicius Jr also netted his first goal of the new season to secure maximum points, with the Brazilian finding the net in the 73rd minute.
Celta Vigo are still searching for a first league win under Rafael Benitez, as they came back from the brink of defeat in their second match of the new season last weekend. Celta were much stronger than they were on matchday one, and they were good value for a point.
However, they needed an Oscar Mingueza effort in the fourth minute of injury time to rescue something from the game, as he scored with Celta’s sixth shot on target against Real Sociedad. But, they will need to be more defensively solid on Sunday against a Real side that has looked incredibly strong over the first two weekends.
Real Madrid boasts an excellent recent record in this fixture, as they have won each of their last six against Celta. Their most recent win was a 2-0 success in the Spanish capital in April.
Real Madrid have looked incredibly strong across their opening matches at the start of the new season. We expect them to maintain their winning sequence away from home on Friday by landing a 2-0 success over Celta Vigo.
