La Liga Preview

After a slow start to the La Liga season, Celta Vigo look to have moved well clear of the relegation dog fight below them in recent weeks. They are currently sitting in their highest position of the season so far in tenth, and come into this fixture having gone four without defeat in Spain.

A battle for a European place may not be out of their reach just yet, as they are just seven behind Real Sociedad, who currently sit sixth. A European Conference League spot may be slightly more attainable though as they are five below Villarreal.

Their recent form certainly gives them every chance in that battle, as they have won twice in their previous four games. They couldn’t get another win last weekend though, as they were held to a goalless draw away from home against Cadiz.

Levante desperately need wins most weeks in La Liga, as they are cut adrift at the bottom of the league standings. They have picked up just one win in the league this season, and that has left them 13 points from safety with 15 games remaining. If an unlikely survival bid is going to come, they must start winning games soon.

However, there is currently no evidence to suggest that, as they have lost their last three in La Liga. They were beaten 4-2 at home by Real Betis last weekend. Betis were 3-0 ahead in that game after 42 minutes.

The hosts are unbeaten in three against Levante. They have won each of the last two games between the sides, with both games being won 2-0. Levante last beat Celta Vigo in July 2020, as they picked up a dramatic 3-2 away success.
