All eyes will be on the bottom of the La Liga standings on Friday evening, as the teams sitting in the two places above the bottom three will lock horns. Valladolid will be on the road as they look to end a four-game winless run.
A pivotal match in the battle to avoid the drop in La Liga will take place on Friday, as Valladolid look to get back on track after losing each of their previous four matches. At present, they sit just a point above the bottom three places in the standings, but a victory could lift them up to 14th in the standings. But, defeat could see them end the round of matches in the bottom three positions.
Valladolid may have been beaten 3-0 at home by Sevilla last weekend, but the result only told half of the story. The Spanish side were denied the opening goal on the stroke of half time after the referee blew the half time whistle after a Valladolid star stuck the ball, which would ultimately end up in the back of the net. Valladolid never recovered from that injustice and fell apart in the second period.
Cadiz also has a battle to avoid relegation on their hands at this stage of the season, as they also sit just a point clear of the bottom three places. They come into this fixture above Valladolid on goal difference, but like their rivals, they could end this round of fixtures in the bottom three positions in the league standings.
Cadiz has lost each of their previous two matches in the league, while they have claimed just a single victory from their last five outings. In their previous match, Cadiz were edged out on the road by Mallorca. Cadiz managed four shots on target in that defeat, but they will need to be more clinical in the final third this weekend.
Cadiz landed a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture between the sides this season. That success ended a three-match drawing sequence in fixtures between these two sides. Valladolid hasn’t registered a win over Cadiz since June 2017.
This should be a close match up between these sides battling to stay in the Spanish top-flight. However, a chance will be taken on Cadiz, who have an excellent unbeaten streak in this fixture.
