However, they have been held to draws in each of their previous two matches, and more dropped points this weekend could see them drop down a place in the standings. Vallecano were held in their most recent fixture in La Liga by Sevilla last weekend. Florian Lejeune rescued a point for Vallecano in that fixture, as he fired home the equalising goal with just 25 minutes remaining.
Cadiz will be in desperate need for the points this weekend, as they are in the middle of the battle to stay in the division. They currently sit 18th overall, but a victory this weekend could lift them to as high as 13th in the standings. However, a defeat could see them end the weekend’s fixtures as low as 19th.
Cadiz has picked up two wins from their last four matches in La Liga, but they were beaten in their most recent fixture by Barcelona. The league-leaders were made to work hard to pick up maximum points in that fixture, but the game was taken away from Cadiz with two goals in the final three minutes before half time.
This will be the fourth meeting between the sides in La Liga in ten years. Two of the previous meetings have been won by Vallecano, with both of their victories coming in home fixtures. Meanwhile, Cadiz won this exact fixture last season 2-0.
Cadiz is really struggling to pick up a run of victories at present, and that is concerning to their chances of staying in the division. However, we could see them picking up a much-needed victory this weekend, as we were very impressed with their display against Barcelona last weekend.
