The action resumes in La Liga following the international break on Friday, with two clubs both chasing maximum points in their hunt to remain in the top-flight. Cadiz will have the home field advantage against Granada, as they chase a second win in three.
The action in Spain resumes on Friday with a must-win match at the bottom of the standings for both Cadiz and Granada. Both teams come into this round sitting in the relegation places, with Cadiz currently having the best chance of maintaining their top-flight status. However, the hosts are still five points from safety with nine matches remaining.
Cadiz come into this round of matches after losing just once across their last four matches in the competition. However, that defeat was suffered in their most recent match in the competition against Real Sociedad. But, unlike other teams near the bottom of the standings, they have at least shown excellent attacking quality in recent weeks after netting five goals in their last four matches.
Time appears to be running out in terms of Granada’s stay in the Spanish top flight at this stage of the season, as they remain 19th in the table. They will need a monumental reversal in their fortunes at this stage of the season after losing each of their last three matches. That form means that they are 13 points from safety with nine matches remaining.
Granada also come into this round after suffering 18 defeats this season, which is the joint-most of any team in the competition. Furthermore, they have picked up just two victories from 28 matches this season, which is the second-fewest of any team in the competition at this stage.
Granada landed a 2-0 success in the reverse fixture between the sides this season, winning at the start of January. However, that success ended a six-game winless run against their rivals. But, five matches over that period ended in draws, including this exact fixture in the 2021-22 La Liga season.
It is hard to make a case for either of these sides based on the form that they have shown throughout the season. However, the narrow preference is for Cadiz in front of their home fans, as they have at least been more difficult to beat than their rivals in recent weeks.
