Cadiz will be looking to bounce back following defeat on matchday two in La Liga this weekend. However, they will face a tricky assignment against an Almeria side that has been underwhelming in the early weeks of the campaign.
Cadiz will have home field advantage this weekend, as they look to bounce back following a setback on the road against Barcelona last time out. The Spanish side were outclassed against the reigning champions at the Olympic Stadium, and they managed just one shot on target with their share of the 25% of the possession.
However, this could be an ideal opportunity to respond to that defeat, as they were professional in their opening home game of the season. Cadiz will be looking to start this match as quickly as they did in their previous home match, as they netted the eventual winner after just seven minutes against Alaves. However, Gonzalo Escalante will once again be missing for the hosts after his red card in the opening match of the season.
Almeria will feel the pressure on their shoulders this weekend, as they are still searching for a first league win of the season. They have already allowed five goals across their opening two matches of the season, and they sit 19th in the early standings.
Three of the goals that they have allowed came last weekend, as they suffered a 3-1 home loss against Real Madrid. Their overall performance in that defeat was marginally better than their no-show against Rayo Vallecano on the opening weekend. Their first goal of the season was netted by Sergio Arribas, but the opener was cancelled out just 15 minutes later by one of the favourites for La Liga glory this term.
Cadiz is unbeaten in eleven previous matches against Almeria in all competitions. Over that period, they have recorded six wins, with five ending in draws. Each of the previous meetings between the sides last term ended in 1-1 draws, which includes this exact fixture which was played in December.
This should be a competitive affair between the two sides this weekend. Both have looked light in the final third over the opening two weekends of the season, which means a low-scoring affair is likely. However, the narrow preference is for Cadiz to land victory.
