Tottenham have made an excellent start to the new Premier League season, and they will be looking to continue their fine form at Turf Moor on Saturday. Burnley will be the hosts, as they chase a first win of the season at the third attempt.
The Ange Postecoglou era at Tottenham Hotspur has got off to a promising start. Spurs are one of the few sides that still boast an unbeaten record in the Premier League this term, and they could move nearer to the top of the standings this weekend if they are able to pick up maximum points on the road against Burnley.
Spurs maintained their excellent start under their new coach last Saturday, as they battled to a 2-0 win on the road against Bournemouth. James Maddison passed a late fitness test to be involved, and the midfielder netted the opener after 17 minutes. The advantage was doubled with just under half an hour remaining by Dejan Kulusevski. It is the third straight season in which Spurs have gone the opening three matches of the season unbeaten.
Vincent Kompany’s Burnley haven’t enjoyed the best start to life back in the Premier League this term, as they have suffered two straight defeats at Turf Moor. The Clarets were easily beaten by City on matchday one, and that was follow up by a 3-1 loss against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Burnley conceded twice inside the opening 20 minutes, and they only threatened to get back into the game following Lyle Foster’s effort early in the second half. However, they have now lost each of their opening two matches in the Premier League for the third straight season.
Tottenham have a fine record in this fixture, as they have won three of their last four against the Clarets. However, their only away win in three visits was recorded in October 2020. Burnley were 1-0 winners on the previous occasion that Tottenham travelled to Turf Moor.
The Clarets will need to make life more challenging than they have for each of the previous two visitors to Turf Moor on Saturday. However, it’s challenging to overlook the impressive displays put forward by Tottenham this term. Therefore, we will be siding with an away victory this weekend.
