A massive game in the Premier League takes place at Turf Moor on Saturday, as Burnley bid to end their three-match losing run in the competition. This could be a golden opportunity for the Clarets, as they come up against a Crystal Palace side that are winless in three.
It hasn’t been the start to the Premier League season that Burnley would have been hoping for, as they are already in danger of getting cut adrift in the bottom three spots. The Clarets have lost eight of their opening ten league matches, and they have still recorded just a single victory in the Premier League so far this season.
Burnley will be looking to respond on Saturday after they suffered a third straight defeat last weekend. That was a damaging loss against Bournemouth, which moved their relegation rivals out of the bottom three spots. But, Vincent Kompany was far from impressed with the officiating in that match at the Vitality Stadium, as he believed that his side was wrongly disallowed a goal in the closing stages.
Crystal Palace may be nervously looking over their shoulders at this stage of the season, as the Eagles have gone three without a victory in the Premier League. Despite that run of form, they remain 13th in the standings, and they currently hold a healthy seven point advantage over the bottom three teams in the standings.
Palace suffered a second straight defeat in the league last weekend, as they were edged out at Selhurst Park by Tottenham. But, positives could have been taken from that performance, as they limited the in-form side in the competition to just a single shot on target, despite suffering a 2-1 loss.
The previous two matches between these sides have ended in draws, including this exact fixture in the 2021-22 season. Those draws mean that Burnley are now unbeaten in their last five Premier League clashes against the Eagles. But, two of their wins during that period have been achieved at Selhurst Park.
This is a must-win game for Burnley in front of their home fans on Saturday, as they will come up against an Eagles side that are depleted in the final third. We expect to see a big performance from the Clarets this weekend, and a chance is taken on them to secure maximum points.
