Brighton will be looking to put a difficult run of form behind them when they return to Premier League action this weekend. The Seagulls will be the clear favourites in the betting, as they come up against a Sheffield United side that are locked in the bottom three.
For the first time, questions are being asked of the Roberto De Zerbi reign at Brighton, as the Seagulls have gone five matches in the Premier League without landing a win. That run of form leaves Brighton sitting seventh in the standings, and they are now five points adrift of the top five spots in the Premier League table.
Brighton have played out draws in each of their last two matches, while they have suffered two defeats across their last five in the competition. However, they showed their battling qualities in their previous fixture in the league, as they continued to plug away at Goodison Park to gain a 1-1 draw against Everton. Their eventual equalizer came in the form of an own goal, but they have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 15 in the league.
Sheffield United finally ended their wait for a first league win in the Premier League this season last weekend, as they landed a much-needed success against Wolves. The victory wasn’t enough to move the Blades off the bottom of the standings, but they could have built confidence ahead of this testing match on the road.
Credit must be given to the Blades for their determination in that win over Wolves, as they scored the winning goal in the tenth minute of injury time from the penalty spot. However, the winning effort was one of just two shots on target that the Blades recorded on Saturday.
This will be the fifth time that these sides have clashed in the Premier League, with Brighton yet to record a victory. Sheffield United have won two of the previous four, which includes an away win in December 2019. Two of the four matches have ended in 1-1 draws.
Brighton are yet to record victory against the Blades in the Premier League, but this looks a perfect opportunity for the Seagulls to get back on track. We struggle to see any other outcome than a victory for the hosts this weekend at the Amex.
