There will be crucial action at the Gtech Community Stadium this weekend in the Premier League, as Brentford look to get their campaign back on track. Nottingham Forest will be the visitors, as they aim to record a third straight victory in the English top-flight.
There will be a welcome sight for Brentford fans this weekend, as Ivan Toney makes his long-awaited return to action for the Bees following his ban. The striker will be expected to make an immediate impact for the club, as Brentford currently find themselves battling at the wrong end of the standings after losing each of their previous five in the Premier League.
It has been a testing period for the Bees, and that has seen increased pressure come on Thomas Frank. Brentford are currently just three points above the relegation places, and an immediate return to form will be required this weekend. A victory will put the Bees back on the right track, as it would lift them up to 14th in the Premier League standings.
Nottingham Forest are reaping the rewards following their decision to go in a different direction. The East Midlands side have picked up victories in each of their last two following the arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo. That run of form has seen Forest up a four-point advantage on the bottom three places in the league standings.
Forest were excellent in their most recent match in the Premier League, as they landed maximum points at the City Ground against Manchester United. Their winning goal in that fixture was scored with just eight minutes remaining by Morgan Gibbs-White. However, their away form continues to be an issue that is damaging their progress this term.
Brentford are unbeaten in their last five league matches against Forest since a 1-0 defeat in the Championship in January 2020. However, two of the three Premier League matches between the sides have ended in draws, which includes a 1-1 outcome from their first meeting this term in October.
Saturday will be all about the return of Toney. However, the striker will likely need a couple of weeks until he is back to his very best after missing a considerable amount of time. Therefore, it could be worth taking a chance on in-form Forest claiming the points on the road this weekend.
