Sporting Braga will welcome Panathinaikos to the Estadio Municipal de Braga on Wednesday for the first leg of the Champions League play-off, with kickoff slated for 19:00 GMT.
Braga warmed up for their play-off clash against Panathinaikos with a 2-4 win away to Chaves on Saturday in the Primeira Liga. Although Chavez had Ygor Nogueira sent off in the 80th minute, Braga were 2-3 up at this stage, and they added another goal in the 96th minute to win 2-4.
The win at Chavez was important for Braga because it allowed them to return to winning ways after losing their Primeira Liga season opener at home to Famalicao. Braga will hope to retain their good form going into the match against Panathinaikos on Wednesday.
Bet hereLast time out, Panathinaikos lost away to Marseille 2-1. However, since they had won the home leg 1-0, their aggregate score was 2-2, which allowed them to beat Marseille 3-5 on penalties and progress from the third qualifying round to the playoffs.
Panathinaikos will focus on getting a good result away from home ahead of the second leg next week.
Neither side has reported new injury worries ahead of the clash on Wednesday.
Braga will narrowly win the home leg and gain an aggregate advantage ahead of next week’s second leg.
