The early kick off in the Premier League on Saturday looks set to be an interesting showdown at the Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth are still looking for their first win of the new season, while Tottenham will be hoping to back up their win over Manchester United last weekend.
Life under Ange Postecoglou has started well for Tottenham Hotspur, as they have delivered two strong performances in their first two matches under the former Celtic coach. Spurs will be looking to build on their impressive displays this weekend, as they come up against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Tottenham was excellent in their first home match under their new boss on Saturday, as they recorded a 2-0 success over Manchester United. Pape Matar Sarr smashed home from close range to put Spurs into the lead, before an own goal in the final ten minutes secured maximum points. That was Tottenham’s first win at their new stadium against the Red Devils, while Sarr became Tottenham’s youngest scorer in the Premier League since 2018.
Bournemouth are still searching for their first win of the new season, as they were beaten by Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. However, the Cherries would have taken a lot of confidence from their performance against the Reds, as they caused no shortage of issues for the Liverpool backline.
But, they were made to pay for defensive errors, as the Reds eventually secured a 3-1 win in front of their home fans. The defeat means that Bournemouth have now lost each of their last five against Liverpool, and they have taken just one point from 21 previous trips to Anfield in the Premier League. But, the performance does ensure that they could cause issues for Spurs this weekend.
Bournemouth landed a 3-2 win in the previous clash between the sides. That was their second win in five Premier League matches against Spurs. They have also lost just once in four home matches against Tottenham, with two matches over that period ending in draws.
Bournemouth were excellent in the final third against Liverpool last weekend, but they will need to improve defensively. Therefore, we could see both teams finding the net on Saturday, with Spurs landing maximum points with a 3-1 success at the Vitality.
