There will be interesting action in the Premier League this Sunday, as Bournemouth bid to get their campaign back on track when they host Nottingham Forest. However, the visitors have also lost three of their last five.
Two sides that are flirting dangerously with the relegation places in the current Premier League standings will collide on Sunday, with Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth both keen to get their seasons back on track. Bournemouth currently sit 13th in the standings, but they have games in hand over many of the sides located around them in the table.
The Cherries stylishly moved clear of the drop zone after winning three on the bounce over the festive period, but they have disappointed in recent weeks after losing two in quick succession. However, it is worth mentioning that these defeats were suffered against Liverpool and Tottenham and this weekend’s showdown presents a more winnable clash.
Nottingham Forest continue to sit just above the relegation places in the standings after losing three of their last five matches. At present, they are two points clear of the bottom three, but they have one of the worst defensive records in the competition after allowing 40 goals in their 22 outings.
Their form was dealt another blow in midweek, as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the City Ground against Arsenal. But, one positive in that defeat was the return of Taiwo Awoniyi. The striker has been out injured for over a month, and he marked his return to the team by netting a late consolation with just a minute remaining on the clock.
Bournemouth have won four of their last five matches against Forest, which includes two wins from three in the Premier League. However, this exact fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw. But, Forest haven’t won on the road against the Cherries since August 2014.
Bournemouth’s healthy advantage over their visitors this weekend is very difficult to ignore. We would be happy to draw a line through their defeats against Spurs and Liverpool, and a return to form could be extremely likely against Forest on Sunday in the Premier League.
