The Premier League action on Sunday gets underway at the Vitality Stadium, as Bournemouth host Chelsea. The Blues will be looking to respond after falling to a shock defeat before the international break against Nottingham Forest.
Chelsea return to action for the first time since the international break on Sunday, as they look to register a second victory of the season when they take on Bournemouth. It has been a tricky start to the season for Mauricio Pochettino, as he has picked up just one win in four matches.
That return sees the Blues currently sit 12th in the standings, but a return to winning ways this weekend could see Chelsea end the weekend as high as seventh in the standings. Pochettino will be hoping for a much better performance from his side this weekend, as they suffered a shock 1-0 home loss against Nottingham Forest before the international break. In that home fixture, the Blues managed just two shots on target, despite having 77% of the possession.
Bournemouth are still searching for their first league win of the new season, as they sit down in 16th in the current standings. However, they have picked up two points from their four matches this term, and a victory on Sunday could lift them above their rivals.
The Cherries would have taken confidence from their fixture before the international break, as they secured a 2-2 draw against Brentford. However, they likely would have felt that they had done enough to win maximum points, as David Brooks put the visitors 2-1 ahead with just over ten minutes remaining. But, they weren’t able to hang on to record a first league win of the new season.
Chelsea have won each of their last two matches against the Cherries, which came after failing to win in three against their rivals. Their most recent win in this fixture was secured at the Vitality in May. However, that win is their only success in their previous three visits to Bournemouth.
Chelsea don’t have the best record away from home against Bournemouth, but they look to have an excellent chance of landing maximum points this weekend. We could see the Blues getting over the line on Sunday, but we could also see both teams finding the back of the net.
