Bayern Munich will be back in Bundesliga action on Saturday, as they look to continue their fine run of results in the top-flight. There will be pressure on Union Berlin, as the surprise package from last term currently sits in the bottom three.
Bayern Munich will be aware that they find themselves in a battle for the title this term, as they currently trail Bayer Leverkusen by two points in the standings. However, the reigning champions have been in dominant form over recent weeks, as they have landed victories in each of their previous five matches.
A sixth straight win on Saturday could see them move to the summit before Leverkusen has a chance to respond. Bayern were in strong form once again last weekend, as they edged to a 1-0 success on the road. Harry Kane was the difference-maker for the Bavarian giants, as he netted his 18th goal on his 12th start in the Bundesliga.
This season has been a massive contrast to the success enjoyed at Union Berlin last term, as they are facing the threat of relegation. Union comes into this weekend sitting second bottom in the standings, and they are without a win in their previous ten matches in the competition.
Some positives would have been taken from their previous outing, as they ended an eight-game losing sequence by picking up a point against Augsburg. Union were forced to remain patient in that home match, with their equalising goal eventually being scored with just two minutes remaining by Kevin Volland. However, this appears another huge challenge on paper for Union.
Bayern Munich have picked up victories in five of their previous eight Bundesliga matches against Union. That includes victories in each of their last two against Union at the Allianz Arena. Their most recent victory was a 3-0 success in February when the sides were sitting first and second in the standings.
We find it hard to believe that Union will get relegated this term, but we struggle to see their disappointing winless run coming to an end on Saturday. Therefore, we expect Bayern to land victory at the Allianz by at least a three-goal margin.
