Azerbaijan vs Wales Prediction: Euro 2020 Qualification Match on 16.11.2019

Wales travel to Bakcell Arena in Baku to take on Azerbaijan on Saturday in a game they must win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Wales sits six points adrift of group toppers Croatia with a game in hand and need to win both of their remaining games to have a realistic chance of qualifications.

Azerbaijan sits bottom of Group E with just one point from six matches, although they did 1-1 with Croatia in their most recent home game.

In the reverse fixture at the Cardiff City Stadium in September, Wales won 2-1 thanks to an 84th-minute winner from Gareth Bale.

Azerbaijan has no fresh injury or suspension worries going into the match.
Wales also has an almost full complement to choose from, barring Bale who is struggling with a calf injury.

The Real Madrid man is now back in training and will hope to play some part in this match and that next week against Hungary.

Prediction

Wales have given inconsistent performances throughout this qualification campaign and as a result, find themselves depending on other results if they are to keep their hopes of featuring in Euro 2020 alive.

Early losses to Croatia and Hungary put them on the back foot, while they were unable to beat Croatia at home in their most recent fixture.

Despite sitting at the bottom of the table, Azerbaijan has made improvements in recent weeks with a draw and two defeats by just a solitary goal.

However, earlier in the campaign they did suffer 3-1 and 5-1 defeats at home and will be hopeful of a positive result against a Wales team they nearly held to a draw in the reverse fixture.

Overall, Wales hasn’t been in the best of form and Azerbaijan is certainly improving, but with a qualification from Euro 2020 on the line, expect Wales to sneak to 1-0 win.
