Valencia travel to Wanda Metropolitano to face Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening with both sides looking to capitalise on the slow start made by Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Atletico have conceded just four goals in eight La Liga matches so far this season, but have managed to score just seven at the other end.
While Atletico are in third, Valencia are seventh but only three points further back and have only lost once in the league since coach Marcelino was fired in September.
However, a 3-0 defeat at home to Ajax was damaging for new coach Albert Celades and he will face another stiff test on Saturday against Diego Simeone.
Team news
Centre back Stefan Savic is likely to be a doubt for Saturday’s game after he was diagnosed with a grade II muscle injury.
Meanwhile, Saul Niguez, Jose Gimenez and Hector Herrera all completed 90 minutes while on international duty, but should all be available.
For Los Ches, Jose Gaya continues to work his way back to fitness, but won’t be available to face Atletico on Saturday.
Carlos Soler has also stepped up his recovery from injury but will also miss Saturday’s game.
Prediction
Atletico have been as solid as ever this season, with just one defeat in all competitions, but have struggled in front of goal following the departure of talisman Antoine Griezmann.
Valencia’s form too has been up and down, with questions remaining about the way in which Marcelino left the club.
Still, in La Liga at least, Celades has made a decent start and could surely begin to win favour among fans with a win over the side that has made two Champions League finals in the last five years.
However, despite Atleti’s lack of goals, still expect them to find a way to win and keep the pressure on Barcelona and Real Madrid.
With Joao Felix yet to really hit his stride, it would be a great time for him to find some form and lead Atletico to a vintage 1-0 win.
