It could be argued that both Atalanta and Salernitana have points to prove on Monday evening, as neither have put in the level of performances that many would have expected this term. There is likely to be pressure on Salernitana once again this weekend, as they remain locked at the foot of the Serie A standings. They are in danger of getting cut adrift in the relegation spots, as they already sit four points from safety after 15 matches. The Italian side has won just once in the league this term, and have suffered a joint-high of nine defeats. 

Salernitana comes into the latest round after suffering defeats in their last two matches in the Italian top flight. Their most recent defeat was suffered at home, as they were made to pay for a low start against Bologna after conceding twice inside the opening 20 minutes. But, they did pull a goal back with 15 minutes remaining to threaten a comeback.
