Atalanta will be looking to regain their good form in the run-in when they host top-four-chasing Roma at the Geiss Stadium on Monday at 18:45 GMT.
Sixth-placed Atalanta have won just twice in their last five attempts. Gian Piero Gasperini and his men have been inconsistent in Serie A, which has seen their chance at the top four fade away.
They lost two times and drew once, alongside the two wins in their last five Serie A assignments. Gasperini will be looking to turn their form around when they face Roma.
Atalanta are currently on 48 points, 5 points behind fourth-placed Milan. This means they can qualify for the Champions League next season if they regain their form in the run-in.
Roma have won their last two matches to climb up to third on the table. They will look to extend their winning run to three on the trot.
Mourinho will have his side drilled and disciplined in the business end of the season as they look to seal a retrain to the Champions League by finishing inside the top four.
Gian Piero Gasperini will have to choose a team to face Roma without up to six players from his first-team squad.
Hans Haterboer is out with a ruptured cruciate ligament. The 29-year-old right-back has been out of action since February 11, 2023, missing 18 matches in all competitions. He is expected to be back fit by August 31, 2023.
Defensive midfielder Teun Koopmeiners is nursing a Biceps femoris muscle injury. The 25-year-old has been out of action since March 4, 2023, and has missed six matches for Atalanta.
Gasperini will also be without left winger Lukas Vorlicky, recovering from knee problems, and has missed four matches so far.
Other injury doubts for the clash with Roma include attacking midfielder Mario Pasalic (distortion of the ankle) and left-back Matteo Ruggeri (muscular problems).
Jose Mourinho will have a few injury challenges ahead of the clash against Atalanta. This is especially problematic given the busy schedule for Roma, including their continued involvement in the latter stages of the Europa League.
Center-forward Tammy Abraham is a doubt for the match against Atalanta; the Englishman has been nursing a shoulder problem since April 13m 2023. The 25-year-old will take a late fitness test to determine whether he will be fit for the Atalanta clash.
Forward Paulo Dybala has also been nursing adductor problems since April 13, 2023. The Argentinian 29-year-old is expected to recover fully for the match against Atalanta on Monday.
Mourinho will also miss the services of defensive midfielder Ebrima Darboe (he underwent surgery on his cruciate ligament), right-back Rick Karsdorp (knee surgery), and right winger Ola Solbakken (shoulder problem).
J. Musso; B. Djimsiti, J. Palomino, G. Scalvini; J. Maehle, M. de Roon, Ederson, D. Zappacosta; M. Pasalic; R. Hojlund, A. Lookman
R. Patricio; R. Ibanez, C. Smalling, G. Mancini; L. Spinazzola, N. Matic, B. Cristante, N. Zalewski; L. Pellegrini, P. Dybala; T. Abraham
Atalanta will be looking to bounce back to consistent form against one of Serie A’s top four teams in form and performances this season. Gasperini will look to contain the danger Roma poses before imposing their style on the visitors.
They will look to use the ball with the speed in their attacks. Quick one-two-passing will help them sidestep the press, move from defense to attack quickly and create high-quality chances.
Roma will adopt a pragmatic approach, making it hard for Atalanta to play through them. Roma will have the impetus to win the game and drive their top-four chances. However, Mourinho will have them in a compact, solid structure with a fluid attack.
Roma will win the match and bolster their top-four chances.
