Aston Villa vs Brighton Prediction: Premier League Match on 20.11.2021
There will be a full house at Villa Park on Saturday, as Steven Gerrard manages his first game in the Premier League. Brighton are the visitors, as they look for a first win in five.
Premier League Preview
From the outside looking in, it seemed as though Dean Smith was giving his marching orders far too soon by Aston Villa. Smith oversaw the club’s promotion back to the Premier League, and should have had more credit in the bank than the owners deciding to relieve him of his duties after their first run of rocky form.
Villa have lost their last five coming into this game, but Gerrard’s inexperience means that he will be resting on some of the more talented players in the squad to get the team over the line and end that terrible run. The defeat against Southampton in their last league game was the straw that broke the camels back for Smith. However, it’s hard to suggest that many questions would have been asked had Villa claimed the points. Villa had the majority of the better chances in the game, but just couldn’t find the breakthrough.
Like Villa, Brighton are also winless in their last five games. But, they are currently in seventh place and locked level on points with Manchester United. A win on Saturday would lift them up to fifth for at least a short while.
The Seagulls have settled very well in the Premier League this season, as they have won four of the eleven games that they have played. Only Liverpool and Chelsea have lost fewer games than Brighton at this stage, but draws are becoming an issue. Brighton were held to a fifth draw of the season in their last game against Newcastle United.
Aston Villa vs Brighton Head to Head
There have been few matches between these sides in the last ten years. Both Brighton and Villa have won a game apiece in the four Premier League meetings, while four of the six games between the clubs in either the Premier League or Championship have ended in draws.
Aston Villa vs Brighton Prediction
Gerrard will be hoping for the new manager bounce this weekend against Brighton. However, the Seagulls are one of the most difficult sides to beat this term in the Premier League, which means we will give them the nod to come away from the game with a draw.
