The Gunners will be hoping that they can bounce back to winning ways this weekend when they welcome Leicester City to the Emirates.
Premier League Preview
It was a disappointing weekend last time out for both of these sides, as they were both beaten 1-0. Arsenal have now lost two of their last three in the Premier League following their away defeat to Manchester City. However, the Gunners remain firmly in the fight for a top four place this season as they are locked level on points with the Foxes going into this fixture.
Arsenal made headlines this week, as it was revealed that Mesut Ozil was left out of their Premier League squad for the season. The World Cup winner is one of the highest earners at the club, but hasn’t played regularly since the arrival of Mikel Arteta. It would now seem as though Ozil’s career at the Emirates is effectively over. There will be pressure on Arterta after making this decision, but it can be argued that the Spaniard hasn’t got a lot wrong since arriving at the club.
Leicester City will travel to the Emirates having lost their last two games in the Premier League. Both of these defeats have come at the King Power Stadium, and they have combined a total of four goals and haven’t conceded. The most recent of their defeats came against Aston Villa last weekend, as Ross Barkley scored a late winner for the visiting side. The Foxes will take confidence into this fixture however, as they beat Manchester City in their last match on the road in the Premier League. However, they will be hopeful that Jamie Vardy is fit enough to play, as they are a much weaker side without the forward.
Arsenal vs Leicester City Head To Head
Arsenal ended a run of three without a win against Leicester in their League Cup fixture back in September. Eddie Nketiah was among the scorers in that 2-0 win for the Gunners. Leicester have won two of the previous three in the league, with the last match at the Emirates ending in a 1-1 draw.
Arsenal vs Leicester City Prediction
Leicester’s chances of taking three points away from this fixture will hinge on the fitness of Jamie Vardy. If he is fit, then they will have an excellent chance at winning the game. However, the preference is for a score draw.
