Arsenal will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the new Premier League season on Saturday, as they welcome Fulham to the Emirates. The Cottagers will be looking to bounce back following a disappointing showing in their second game of the season against Brentford.
It has been a reliable start to the season for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, as they look to go one better than their second-place finish in the Premier League last term. The Gunners are one of just three teams in England’s top flight to have won each of their opening two matches at the start of the new season, and they sit third in the early season standings.
Arteta would have taken great pride from his side’s performance on Monday evening, as they battled to a 1-0 win at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace. Their only goal in the win was scored from the penalty spot, as Martin Odegaard netted the winner. However, Arsenal were forced to hang on in the closing stages after having Takehiro Tomiyasu sent off with 20 minutes remaining.
Fulham made a pleasing enough start to the new season, as they landed a victory on the road against Everton on matchday one. However, they weren’t able to follow up that effort with another victory on matchday two, as they were easily beaten in front of their home fans by Brentford.
The Bees scored on the stroke of half time, before adding two further goals in the final 25 minutes. That defeat means that Fulham have now failed to lose each of their opening two league matches at the start of the season for the seventh straight campaign. Fulham have suffered each of their last seven defeats by at least three goals at Craven Cottage.
Arsenal have won eight of their last ten matches against Fulham across all competition. They are also unbeaten across that period, with the other two matches ending in draws. Fulham have never landed an away win against Arsenal in the league.
Arsenal have looked strong across their opening two Premier League matches this term, and it looks challenging to see their winning run coming to an end this weekend. Therefore, we will be siding with the Gunners landing maximum points at the Emirates.
