AC Milan will be looking to maintain their strong start to the new Serie A season when they return to action for their first match at the San Siro of 2023-24 on Saturday. Torino will be the visitors after picking up a point on the opening weekend.
AC Milan will be hoping to get themselves back into the title picture in the Italian top-flight this term after a slightly underwhelming domestic campaign last term. The Italian giants have added some excellent players during the pre-season, and they immediately hit the ground running in their opening match of the season on Monday night.
Milan landed a comfortable win on the road to kick off the new season, as they secured a 2-0 success against Bologna. Oliver Giroud opened the scoring after just eleven minutes, before their advantage was doubled ten minutes later by another former Chelsea star, Christian Pulisic. Milan also handed a debut to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, while Rafael Leao was also in excellent form throughout the match.
Torino will once again be looking to safely secure their status in the Italian top-flight this term, but they will likely need to show more in the final third of the field over the coming weeks. In their opening match, they played out a 0-0 draw against Cagliari in front of their home fans.
Torino managed just two shots on target in that stalemate, but they defended strongly and never looked likely to lose the match. However, that defensive structure will be put to the test against Milan on matchday two, and Torino will likely adopt a low-block and attempt to hit their rivals on the counter attack.
AC Milan landed a 1-0 win in this exact fixture between the sides last season. However, Torino landed a 2-1 win in the opening clash between the sides. That win was the only victory that Torino have recorded against Milan in the previous seven league meetings between the sides.
This will be a good test for a Milan side that looked extremely threatening in the final third of the field in their opening match of the season. However, we expect Milan to come through this first test at the San Siro, and we could see them landing a 3-1 win in front of their home fans on Saturday evening.
