AC Milan will be hoping to put a miserable run of results behind them in Serie A this weekend when they take on Monza. The visitors should come into the round in good confidence after picking up a hard-fought success in their previous match.
It hasn’t been the most straightforward start to the Serie A season for AC Milan, as they have struggled to find consistency in their result so far this term. However, they remain in the box seat for a Champions League finish this term, as they already hold a four-point advantage over fifth-placed Bologna. But, a win will be required this weekend.
Milan will be looking for a response on Sunday after they saw their two-game winning run brought to an end in their previous fixture. It was an eventful game for the Italian giants against Atalanta, but they were made to pay in the closing stages when the hosts netted the winner. Milan’s goals in the 3-2 loss were netted by Oliver Girous and Luka Jovic.
Monza have once again caught the eye in Serie A this term, as they remain in the top half of the standings. The Italian club have won five of their 15 matches in the league this season, and they have suffered only four losses. That is the same number of defeats as Milan coming into this round.
Fortunately, they managed to get back to winning ways in their latest match in the competition, ending a three-game winless run. Their recent success was picked up at home against Genoa. The winning goal was scored in the final ten minutes when Dany Mota found the net.
Milan have landed victories in four meeting between the sides in all competitions since the start of 2020. That includes wins in both fixtures between the sides in Serie A last term. The most recent of those was a 1-0 away win in February.
Monza will pose serious questions of Milan this weekend, but it could be hard to overlook the hosts excellent record in this fixture. Therefore, we will be taking a home victory on Sunday in Serie A.
