The race for European spots in Serie A continues this weekend, with two of the leading contenders in action on Friday. Among those will be AC Milan, who will be searching for a second straight victory. Empoli will be the visitors to the San Siro.
There will be a huge match at the San Siro on Friday evening, as AC Milan look to maintain their challenge for a Champions League finish in Serie A. The Italian giants come into this home match after picking up one of their best results of the season in their previous fixture, but they have still lost two of their previous four.
Milan was excellent in their previous match, as they handed a massive 4-0 defeat to Napoli. The reigning champions were excellent in that fixture, with Rafael Leao being at the heart of everything good about the Italian giants. The winger scored either side of half time, and played his part in the two further goals added by Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers. Building on that win will be key to Milan’s chances over the coming weeks.
Empoli sit in a much more comfortable position than they were before the World Cup, as they are now 12 points clear of the relegation places in Serie A. They currently sit 14th in the standings, but they could edge closer toward the top half of the standings with a rare victory on the road at the San Siro.
Empoli ended a four-game wait for a victory in their previous match, as they registered a fine 1-0 home win over Lecce. The only goal in the game was netted just after the hour mark, as Francesco Caputo smashed home his penalty. However, Empoli will be without Lorenzo Tonelli on Friday evening.
AC Milan has an excellent recent record in this fixture, as they have picked up victories in each of their previous four matches against Empoli. The latest of those was a 3-1 success in October. Empoli’s last win against Milan was secured at the San Siro in April 2017.
This will be a big game to kickstart a huge seven days for Milan. The Italian giants was excellent in their previous match in Serie A, and we expect them to build momentum with another straightforward success against Empoli on Friday.
